Kesem — Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the operator of Kesem. By creating an account or using Kesem, you accept these Terms, the Community Guidelines, and you confirm that you have read the Privacy Policy and the Biometric Policy.
TOS-1 · Who we are
Kesem is a dating app operated by Yosef Haim Davidovitz, an individual in Israel ("we", "us"). Postal address: 131 Lachish Boulevard, Kiryat Gat, Southern District 8204857, Israel · Support: [email protected] · Website: https://kesemdating.com
TOS-2 · Who can use Kesem
- You must be 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth at registration. If it shows you are under 18, registration stops, and the date you entered cannot be changed later.
- You may have one account. You may not open a new account if we have permanently banned you.
- Where Kesem is not available. Kesem is not offered in the European Union, in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, or in the United Kingdom. New registration is not possible from the US states of Illinois, Texas and Washington. We check this using your real location at the location step of registration. If an existing account is located in one of the US states listed above, we collect no new biometric data there: new face scans and new photo uploads are not possible until the account is outside that state.
- You must be legally able to accept these Terms, and you must not be barred from using the service by law.
TOS-3 · Your account and verification
- You sign in with Apple or Google. You also verify a phone number by SMS.
- A live face scan is a condition of using Kesem. It confirms that you are a real person, that your photos show you, and that people we have permanently banned do not come back. The Biometric Policy explains what we keep and for how long. You may withdraw your consent at any time. If you do, your profile is hidden from discovery until you scan again, and your matches and chats stay.
- Everything you tell us about yourself must be true. You must keep your account to yourself, and you must not sell or transfer it.
- Tell us at once through [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed your account.
TOS-4 · Your content
- "Your content" means your photos, profile text and messages. You remain the owner of your content.
- You give us a limited, non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, process, display and send your content only to run Kesem. This includes showing your profile to other members, delivering your messages, moderating content and keeping it safe. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for the retention periods in the Privacy Policy.
- You must only post content that you have the right to post. It must follow the Community Guidelines.
- We do not use your photos or messages for advertising, and we do not sell them.
TOS-5 · Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users
Kesem has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. Objectionable content includes anything the Community Guidelines forbid, in particular:
- any sexual content involving minors, or any sexualisation or grooming of minors (CG-3);
- harassment, threats, hate speech and intimidation (CG-4);
- sexual content in profiles, and sexual content sent to people who did not ask for it (CG-6);
- fraud, scams and requests for money (CG-7);
- fake profiles, impersonation and photos of other people (CG-2);
- spam and commercial use (CG-8), and illegal activity (CG-9).
We check content before and after it appears. We act on reports, and we remove content that breaks these rules. We restrict or remove the accounts of people who post it or who abuse other members. When we find content that sexually exploits children, we remove it at once, ban the account permanently and report it to the authorities (see the Child Safety Standards).
TOS-6 · Report, block and unmatch
These tools are available inside the app, on every profile and in every chat:
- Report. Choose a reason: fake profile, harassment, fraud, sexual content, minor, stolen photos, hate or threats, spam, or something else. You can add details. When you report from a chat, the last 50 messages of that chat are attached as evidence. The reported person is never told who reported them. Reports about a minor, hate or threats and fraud are severe reports. The reported account is suspended automatically until a person reviews it, and we aim to review severe reports within 24 hours.
- Block. The blocked person disappears from your discovery, matches and chat, and you disappear from theirs. You can unblock later: the person comes back to discovery, but the earlier match does not come back.
- Unmatch. This ends the match and the chat. The other person is not notified.
People without an account can report content by email to [email protected], or to [email protected] for anything involving a child.
TOS-7 · How we moderate
- Photos are checked automatically by an AI image service (Amazon Rekognition). Photos with clear violations are rejected automatically, and a person reviews unclear cases. Any face in your photos must match your face scan. Your first photo must clearly show only you.
- Face verification. If a scan fails three times, a person reviews the account. If a scan matches a permanently banned person, a person always reviews it; this never leads to an automatic ban.
- Risk signals. Automated signals, such as several reports or unusual activity, may lower how often your profile is shown, ask you to scan your face again, or suspend your account until a person reviews it.
- Links in chat are not sent. Phone numbers and usernames are allowed.
- Permanent bans are always decided by a person, never automatically.
TOS-8 · Sanctions and statement of reasons
Depending on how serious and how repeated a breach is, we may reject a photo, warn you, lower your visibility, ask you to verify your face again, suspend your account for a set time or until a review, or ban your account permanently. A breach of CG-3 (child safety) always leads to a permanent ban.
When we restrict your account or reject a photo, we tell you:
- what we decided, and its scope (for example: "this photo only" or "the whole account, until [date]");
- the reason, and the section of the Community Guidelines (for example "CG-5.5");
- whether the decision was made automatically or by a person;
- how to appeal.
We do not reveal who reported you, or the internal signals we use. We do not currently tell you when your visibility is lowered.
TOS-9 · Appeals
- You can appeal a photo rejection or any sanction inside the app. A permanently banned account can still sign in to the "account banned" screen and appeal from there. You can also use the support form (category "Appeal / a decision about my account") or write to [email protected].
- A person reviews every appeal, including appeals against automated decisions. That person was not involved in the original decision where possible. {{APPEAL_REVIEWER_INDEPENDENCE — owner to confirm while there is a single staff member}}
- We tell you the outcome. If we accept the appeal, we reverse the restriction.
- You can also go to a court (see TOS-14).
TOS-10 · Your safety when meeting people
Kesem does not run criminal background checks on its members. Face and phone verification confirm that a member is a real person. They do not tell you who that person is or what they have done. Read the safety tips in the app (Settings → "Verification and safety" → "Safety tips"). You are responsible for your own interactions, online and offline. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (in Israel, the police: 100).
TOS-11 · Price
Kesem is free. There are no paid features today. If we introduce any, we will tell you the price and terms before you pay, and we will update these Terms.
TOS-12 · Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time in the app, or on the web at https://kesemdating.com/account-deletion. You have 30 days to restore it, and then it is deleted permanently. The Account Deletion page lists what we keep and why.
- We may suspend or end your account under TOS-8. We may also end it if the law requires this, or if we stop running Kesem. If we stop running Kesem, we will give reasonable notice where we can.
TOS-13 · Service provided "as is"; liability
- we provide Kesem as it is and as available, and we do not promise that it will always work or that you will find a match;
- we are not responsible for how members behave, online or offline, except to the extent the law makes us responsible;
- nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including consumer rights under Israeli law.
TOS-14 · Governing law and courts
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Disputes go to the competent courts in Jerusalem, Israel. This does not take away any mandatory consumer protection that the law of your country of residence gives you.
TOS-15 · Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the change is needed at once for legal or safety reasons. The version and date appear at the top of this page.
